What is the Greater Harrisburg Healthy Start Program?

Our services are offered to women currently pregnant or with a child under the age of two, or for children under the age of two.

We provide help to decide which services are needed for the health of mothers and babies.

We provide care BEFORE and AFTER the baby’s birth. Care includes prenatal care, postpartum care, infant care, well-child exams/care and case management services that address specific needs and challenges of the mothers and children that we serve.

  • Individual assessment of needs
  • Home visits by case manager
  • Link to area assistance agencies and community resources
  • Education and counseling for the mother before and after the baby is born
  • Education on birth spacing and desired size of family
  • Education and referrals on desired methods of birth control
  • Life skills training
  • Health services for infants and children up to age two
  • Maternal depression screening and referral to treatment as needed
  • Assistance with transportation to doctor appointments
